Losing weight can be difficult, but the key to success is motivation.
Why do I want to lose weight? The answer is the first and often most insurmountable obstacle along the road to the dream figure.
Try with this – make yourselves a list of all positive sides of losing weight:
√ you will have more energy;
√ you will improve your health condition;
√ you will wear clothes which you like;
√ you will be satisfied with your appearance…
Write everything that comes to your mind.
And now mark the obstacles and the trials you have to overcome:
√ you bear the feeling of hunger;
√ it is necessary to control yourselves with what you eat;
√ you need time for exercises… and everything that had stopped you in the previous attempts to lose weight.
Think more! Doesn’t overweight provide you a false calmness in your life?
Does it provide you excuse about the fact that you make things you are afraid of, like to find a better job or to try to make some of your dreams come true. Write everything coming to your mind, even seeming banal, forced or stupid to you.
Now see which of the two lists is longer. If the positive sides are more than the negative ones, you will certainly strengthen your wish and decisiveness to lose weight . This method, developed to help giving up the harmful habits (alcohol abuse, cigarettes etc), makes you concentrate on the uses and easily find solution to the problem.
You don’t have time for exercises.
Try to steal some. You can wake up 20 minutes earlier to take a walk for about 15 minutes before breakfast. Take another walk before lunch and you would have already added half an hour of physical activity to your daily life. The lunch break is also an ideal time for moving, even your working programme to be overloaded. It is not bad to shorten some of your daily duties, if they are too much. In this way you will have some place for exercises at the end of the day.
You buy candies to your children, and finally eat them yourselves.
Be honest before yourselves. For whom do you buy the candies? Will you be occasionally able to convince your children to eat in a healthy way together with you? This way you will replace the sweet temptations with fruit or other useful food. Another option is to buy sweets, which you don’t like. Or ask someone of your family to hide them from you. Whatever you do, it is important for you to repeat to yourselves that each problem has a solution.
Failed attempts discourage you.
Work on your self – confidence. Return your confidence in the final result. Even if you haven’t managed to get the desired figure, remember the means that helped you in the past, although temporarily. Let’s say you have lost 2-3 kg. How have you achieved this? With the help of some programme, did you decrease the taking of fats, did you take walks regularly with friends..? Include these proven methods in your present experience. Any small achievement can easily be turned into a strong motivator.
Set a clear goal!
Most people who wish to lose weight don’t set a clear goal for themselves. What do we mean by that? Before starting their diet they say to themselves "Yes, I wish to lose weight". And what happens later? They start losing weight , they lose one, two, three kilos and say to themselves "I cannot lose weight", after which they give up their diet and complexed by the fact that they cannot lose weight, they gain their initial weight for a very short time. Why does it happen like this? Because they themselves don’t know how many kilos exactly do they wish to lose, for the simple reason that they have never set a clear and concrete goal.
What should you do? Sit and write on a sheet of paper how many kilos exactly do you wish to lose and within what period of time. For example:
"I want to lose 5 kg. for one month!"
Hang this sheet in a prominent place in your house, so that every day to be able to see what is exactly your concrete goal. Put in all your will and ambition and you will succeed.
When you achieve your goal, make yourselves a prize – eat a box of ice – cream, meet friends or just do something that you are pleased of, so that to feel yourselves satisfied with the result already achieved by you.
If you wish to lose more weight, just set yourselves a new goal, and you will achieve it, because you are motivated and you know what exactly do you want and for how long would you achieve it.
